Ask one question people can answer
“What should we do?” is a conversation, not a useful poll. “Fondue out or dinner at the apartment on Saturday?” gives people something definite to choose. Include the date, who the decision is for and any agreed budget that changes the options.
Sort out hard constraints before voting. A popular restaurant is not a workable choice if it cannot accommodate the group. Discuss affordability privately where appropriate; a poll should help choose between suitable options, not pressure somebody into spending more than they can manage.
Keep the choices realistic
Use a small set of distinct options. Give each one enough context to compare it fairly: a location, approximate plan or the point that makes it different. If the decision affects money, agree the group budget first and check current prices with the provider.
For people travelling separately, a vote on a pickup time only makes sense after checking the arrival arrangements. For dinner, check the day’s plans so you are not inviting people who already have a private evening planned.
Give people a chance to respond
Share the poll in Pistio. and tell the relevant people when you need an answer. Voting needs a connection, so do not assume everyone can respond immediately while skiing. Use the trip chat for a short explanation or a question that needs context.
Agree what you will do with the result. If only part of the group is joining an activity, include the people taking part rather than treating everybody’s preference as a commitment to attend. A vote is not a booking, a payment or a guarantee that a venue has space.
Move the decision into the holiday
Once the choice is settled, put the activity and attendees into the itinerary. If somebody needs to book it, make a shared task with an owner. Add a booking payment schedule if there is a deposit or balance to pay.
For a mountain lunch, share a recognisable meeting point on the ski map. Keep the final details somewhere people can find without rereading every message. The poll has done its job when the group knows what is happening next.
